Welcome to Chez Joséphine

Chez Joséphine is the restaurant located on the grounds of Roaring River Vineyards aptly named after the river that borders its property.

Chez Joséphine boasts magnificent views of the river and the historical site that it occupies. The restaurant is located on the foundation of the Brewer Gristmill overlooks the ruins of the sawmill across the river. The miller’s cabin, dating back to 1793, can be seen from the road and is visible from the restaurant’s porch though the trees and uphill from the sawmill ruins.. The dam which was destroyed in the great flood of June 1940 is still nearby.

The owners, Thomas and Joséphine Silvey, developed the vineyard property into a mountainside attraction that includes in addition to the restaurant an event venue, lodging, a truffle field, and vineyards. Chez Joséphine completes the vision they had for the property and was named after Josephine Silvey who is a native of Alsace-Lorraine, a region of France, known for its blend of French and German culture.due to the fact that this region was sometimes belonged to Germany and at other times belonged to France. Joséphine came to the US as a teenager and finds this area to resemble the countryside she grew up in.

Chez Joséphine will offer a fusion of American and French-German foods not just in their menus but also in the events that will take place in the restaurant and other vineyard events. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Reservations are highly recommended.

In addition to the restaurant, Roaring River Vineyards also hosts numerous special events and parties throughout the year. Be sure to check out all of our events.
